During the race, the team was hammered by the opposition – literally – a number of forced rollovers tested the strength of the vehicle and team Bubaluii’s mental toughness.
Amazingly, the college’s second ever full carbon fibre frame held up much better than its 2001 predecessor, Whip It, despite the fact that it was the lightest vehicle ever produced at BSSC. (25.5kg)
They charged on, nailed down 1st place in their class, recorded the second fastest lap of the race and held onto third place overall all the way to the line.

They finished up 42 laps or 55kms ahead of Berwick Secondary’s half male/ half female team, and by traveling 790 kms, Bubaluii set a new Total Distance Record in their category, and only the second male/female team to finish in the overall top three ever. |
